Why are There Open Circuit and Short Circuit Problems on the PCB?
PCB open circuit and short circuit problems are encountered almost every day by the manufacturers of PCBs, and such problems have been plaguing production and quality management personnel. This situation leads to insufficient goods and the need for replenishment, overdue delivery, customer complaints, etc., which is an intractable problem for the people for the industry.
Why are there open circuit and short circuit problems on the PCB? How can we improve if we encounter such situations?
The reasons for the above phenomena and the improvement methods are as follows:
1. The CCL(cooper clad board) must be inspected before being stored in the warehouse to check the surface of the board for scratches. If this happens, you should contact the supplier in a timely manner and proceed as appropriate according to the actual situation.
2. The CCL(copper clad board) was scratched during the cutting process, mainly because of the presence of hard, sharp objects on the machine table. Therefore, the table top must be carefully cleaned before cutting the material to ensure that the table top is smooth and there is no hard, sharp object.
3. During the drilling process, the CCL(copper clad board) is scratched by the drill bit, mainly because the spindle clamp is worn, or the debris in the clamp is not cleaned, etc.
a. The clip can be replaced by the number of times the knife is recorded or according to the degree of wear of the clip;
b. Clean the drill bit regularly according to the operating procedures to ensure that the drill bit is free of debris.
4. The CCL(copper clad board) is scratched during transport;
a. When transporting, the porter lifts too many boards and the weight is too large. The board is not lifted during transport, but is dragged up, causing the board corner and the board surface to rub and scratch the board surface;
b. When the board is placed, it is not properly placed. The porter used force to push the board in order to rearrange it, causing the board to rub against the board and scratching the board. Once you understand the cause, you can communicate with the people involved to avoid unnecessary situations.
5. After electroless plating copper and panel plating, scratches due to improper operation during board stacking: When a certain number of plates are stacked together, its weight is not small. When they are lowered again,, the corners of the board are downward and form a strong impact force to strike the board surface, causing the board surface to scratch the exposed substrate.
6. The production PCB may be scratched when they are passes through a horizontal machine:
a. The baffle of the template machine sometimes touches the surface of the board. The edge of the baffle is generally uneven and there are raised object, so that when the PCB passes through the template machine, the surface will be scratched.
b. The stainless steel drive shaft is damaged into a pointed object. When the PCB is passed through the stainless steel drive shaft, the substrate is exposed and the copper surface is scratched.
