Detailed Explanation of the Meaning of Each Layer of PCB Gerber File

图片
For entry-level electronics engineers, especially those unfamiliar with PCB prototyping process, the first time they hear terms like "Gerber file", "solder mask opening", "green/black solder mask", "stencil manufacturing" or "exporting Gerber files to the PCB manufacturer," they may feel confused or overwhelmed. This article focuses on explaining the meaning and functions of each layer in a PCB Gerber file, helping beginners understand the structure and purpose, and preparing them for future prototyping.   1. How to Export Gerber Files After completing the PCB layout design and passing the DRC (Design Rule Check), you can proceed to export the Gerber files.     There are typically two ways to export Gerber files: (1) One-Click Export Exports all layers and graphic primitives based on default settings. It does not include drill tables or separate drill information files.     (2) Custom Configuration You can customize the co...

Top 10 Tips for PCB Routing

图片
PCB routing   is to lay out printed wires according to the PCB circuit schematic diagram, wire table, and the required wire width and spacing. The routing should generally comply with the following rules:       1.  The PCB routing should be as simple as possible on the premise of meeting the requirements of use. The order of selecting the routing method is single layer - double layer - multilayer.     2.  The wire layout between the two patch connection plates should be as short as possible, and sensitive signals and small signals should go first to reduce the delay and interference of small signals. Ground shielding should be designed near the input line of the analog circuit; t he wiring of the same layer should be evenly distributed ; the conductive area on each layer should be relatively balanced to prevent PCB warping during processing.     3.  When changing the direction of the signal line, a diagon...

Design Skills of High Frequency PCB

图片
High-frequency circuits tend to have high integration and high routing density. The use of multi-layer boards is a must for routing, and it is also an effective way to reduce interference.  In the  PCB design  stage, a reasonable choice of PCB size with a certain number of layers can make full use of the intermediate layer to set up the shield to better realize the nearest grounding, and effectively reduce the parasitic inductance and shorten the signal transmission length.   At the same time, it can greatly reduce signal cross-interference.   These methods are beneficial to the reliability of high   frequency circuits.          With using the same material, the noise of the 4-layer board is 20DB lower than that of the double-sided board. But there is also a problem: the higher the number of PCB layers, the more complicated the manufacturing process and the higher the cost.  This requires that in the PCB de...
